Studios on High Gallery is a collaborative, artist-owned-and-operated gallery established over 30+ years ago in the Short North Arts District in Columbus, Ohio. Artists are juried into the gallery in a specific medium and style and must have a high-quality, professional body of work.
All artists contribute to the day-to-day operations of the gallery including staffing 3-4 times each month and 3 gallery hops each year, as well as assigned tasks and committees. Currently our rents are about $200 a month with 5% of all sales going to the general funding of the gallery.
We invite you to stop in and take a look at the artists we represent before you apply. We have 20+ Central Ohio member artists working in a variety of styles and media to give our patrons a wide range of art to view/purchase and our artists a professional showcase for their work.
Though we no longer have studios in the space, the emphasis on working artists remains. Member artists work on their art when they staff to provide visitors with insight into art and process.
We add new artists when current members leave so only a few spaces open up each year. Your medium and style will affect whether or not you are considered for an opening as we replace an artist with one working in a similar vein.
This is what we look for when we select new artists:
A consistent body of high-quality work which is professionally presented and ready to install.
Work in a medium and style that matches the opening we have for a new artist.
Previous exhibition experience and web presence.
Willingness to make both the required financial contribution in the form of monthly rent and commitment of time and work that are required.
Ability to engage customers and talk about your work and the work of other artists in the gallery.
Interest and openness to working with other artists in a creative and positive team.

Many of our current member artists have been juried into the gallery because of their participation in Hit the Hop- our annual juried exhibition. If there isn’t currently an opening at the gallery we recommend you submit an entry to Hit the Hop.
